One day the Chinese Zhou Dynasty emperor became terminally ill. They called the best doctors, but none of them was able to help him. His health deteriorated from one day to another. At that moment one of the courtiers recommended the emperor to ask Lao-c´ for advise.
The emperor met the wise man and told him: “Wise man, please heal me. I am seriously ill. If you heal me, I will reward you generously.”
But Lao-c´ answered: “I am not a doctor, but I also do not avoid curing the sick. If you listen carefully, I will tell you what are the causes of illnesses and suffering in people.”
The emperor forgot about his supreme position and set at the wise man’s heels ready to listen carefully.
“Well,” began Lao-c´, “the first cause of all illnesses and problems of people lies in a misunderstanding of the right aim and sense of life. The second cause is a lack of knowledge of universal laws. And the third cause is destructive thoughts and emotions in the soul.”
“Realize who you are and why you are here. Learn about the laws of this world and get rid of destructive thoughts and then you will recover,” concluded the wise man.
